Zoë was diagnosed with Guanidinoacetate Methyltransferase (GAMT) Deficiency at age 4, following a few years of therapies and misdiagnoses. GAMT Deficiency is a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the GAMT gene, leading to a lack of the enzyme needed to produce creatine properly. This leads to a buildup of guanidinoacetate (GAA), which can be toxic to the brain. This deficiency results in various challenges for Zoë, including absent seizures, developmental delays, and speech delays.

Since her diagnosis and the introduction of specific supplements, Zoë has shown significant improvement in her developmental and speech abilities. Zoë loves to play and continues to make progress every day.

ACD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children receive early diagnosis for GAMT, educating clinicians and families about creatine deficiencies, and driving research to discover better treatments for GAMT and AGAT, as well as a treatment for CTD, which currently has no available treatment.

Join us in raising awareness and supporting efforts to improve the lives of those affected by creatine deficiencies.
